Cast a Chrome tab on your TV

You can use a Chromecast device to show a Chrome tab or your screen on your TV.

You can show most web content. Some plugins won't work, like Silverlight, QuickTime, and VLC.

To show Chrome on your TV, you’ll need:

Cast a tab from Chrome

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Moreand thenCast.
  3. Choose your Chromecast device where you want to watch the content.
    • If you're already using the Chromecast, your content will replace what's on your TV.
  4. When you're done, to the right of the address bar, click Cast Castand thenStop.

What you'll see in Chrome

  • When your tab is being shown on a TV, you'll see Display Display.
  • To the right of the address bar, next to your extensions, you'll see Active Cast Active cast extension.

To use a shortcut in Chrome, add the Cast button.

Cast videos and media

  1. On the video or media you're watching, click Cast Cast.
  2. You'll see the video or images on your computer and TV, but you’ll only hear sound on your TV. Sounds for other tabs and apps will still play on your computer.

Cast your computer screen

You can display your entire computer screen using Chrome on Mac, Windows, and Chromebooks.

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Moreand thenCast.
  3. At the top, next to "Cast to," click the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  4. Click Cast desktop.
  5. Choose your Chromecast device where you want to watch the content.

Cast music and videos from your computer

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Moreand thenCast.
  3. At the top, next to "Cast to," click the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  4. Under "Stream a video or audio file," click Cast file.
  5. Select a file.
  6. Choose your Chromecast device where you want the file to play.

To show your screen on your TV, you’ll need:

Cast your entire Android screen

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Settings appSettings icon.
  2. Tap Connected devices and then Cast and then Select your Chromecast device.
  3. Your Android screen will now show on your Chromecast device. You can now see tabs on Chrome on your Chromecast.
  4. When you're done, tap Settings and then Connected devices and then Cast and then Select your Chromecast device and then Disconnect. Your Chromecast will disconnect and your Android screen will no longer be mirrored.
